Imagine that you have veins that roll or hide or you are dehydrated and you need a blood draw, or you wanted to donate blood because you are ethically inclined to help others. How much nicer would it be to never have to have anyone search for your veins by feel or by digging in your arm with a needle?
This is amazing technology. For anyone that has had to have more than one attempt to ‘hit’ a vein this is a miracle. The ability to be able to see where the veins are and which look to be the best potential for blood draws, donating, and even IV placements this would save time and pain for everyone involved.
The Red Cross is testing this technology on a select group of blood donors in Australia and continuing research into whether it is a viable technology to pursue. Learn more about this study in this video.
